Three men have suffered “potentially life-altering’ injuries after an Audi crashed into a building on Christmas Day.
Lancashire Police officers were called to Mellor Brook at 4.33am on Christmas Day (December 25) following a report an Audi A3 Sport 30 TDI had collided with a building that was being renovated.
A spokesperson for the force confirmed that the occupants of the vehicle – three men in their 20s - suffered serious injuries and all remain in hospital.
Fire engines from Blackburn, Preston, and the Urban Search and Rescue Team from Chorley also attended the incident, and firefighters used cutting tools and small tools to extricate a casualty and worked to make the scene safe.
Work is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances which led to the collision and nobody has been arrested at this time.
Lancashire Constabulary Temp/Insp Helen Parkinson, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “This collision has left three men with serious and potentially life-altering injuries.
“Our enquiries are very much ongoing as we build the full picture of what occurred and why. As part of those enquiries we are asking anyone with information, or dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage which would help our investigation to contact the police.”
