The fire has been burning for 24 hours now and swathes of woodland has been decimated.

There are currently around 60 firefighters and 10 engines deployed in the area as the forest continues to burn for a second day.

Crews are cutting breaks through the dense woodland to combat the fire which is spreading both over and underground.

The remote location has led to logistical challenges for fire crews, who are relying on off-road vehicles to relay water from reservoirs in Longridge.

These are the latest images taken from the frontline of firefighting efforts this afternoon.
