This gallery features a collection of 62 individuals who were jailed in Lancashire in 2024 for a range of serious crimes, including murder, rape, theft, drug dealing and violent offenses.
These faces represent the darker side of our community and serve as a reminder of the consequences of criminal behaviour:

25. Matthew Tallentire
Matthew Tallentire was jailed for raping a teenage girl in a Blackpool hotel. The victim had travelled to the resort with two adults in the summer of 2020, and Matthew Tallentire befriended them on the beach. They all socialised together and went back to a hotel room where Tallentire attacked the girl. At Preston Crown Court in January, a jury convicted Tallentire, 32, of two offences of rape and one offence of attempted rape following a trial. He was subsequently remanded in custody. Tallentire, formerly of Blackpool but now of no fixed address, was later jailed for nine years after appearing at the same court on July 26. | Lancashire Police

26. Rhys Jones
Rhys Jones killed a “popular" barman who had become a father shortly before his death. George Fenlon suffered serious head injuries when he was attacked by Rhys Jones on The Strand, Blackpool, on 15 August 2023. The 23-year-old did not regain consciousness and died three months later in hospital – having become a father a fortnight before his death, police said. Jones, 27, of Hampton Street in Cannock, Staffordshire, was jailed for 10 years and two months after pleading guilty to manslaughter at Preston Crown Court. | Lancashire Police

27. Daniel Hardcastle
Daniel Hardcastle murdered his two-year-old son within months of being granted sole custody of him. Hardcastle, 31, from Blackpool, subjected his son, Damion Russell, to a "horrifically violent" attack. The toddler was found unresponsive at address on Central Drive on August 19 last year. Hardcastle claimed the toddler had fallen and banged his head, but medical evidence presented to the jury proved that Damion’s death was caused by a violent assault. He was sentenced to a minimum of 22 years in prison in July. | Lancashire Police

28. Stuart Mallen
Stuart Mallen was caught in a “sting” by a paedophile vigilante group when he attempted to meet up in a Blackpool car park with a youngster he believed was 15. The 45-year-old was sitting in his vehicle waiting for his victim with a tube of lubricant on his lap, Preston Crown Court was told. Jailing him for 20 months, Judge Ian Unsworth told him: “You are a predatory paedophile with a sexual attraction to young boys. It is to your good fortune that it didn’t involve a real child.” | Lancashire Police
