Stolen trike heartache for Keaton, five

Family and friends of Keaton Seed took part in a sponsored walk around the Guild Wheel last year to fund the £1,300 trike, which is used to build up muscles in the boy’s legs.

But on Wednesda morning, while dad Paul was taking Keaton to school, the trike was taken from under the front window of the family’s home in Brackenbury Road in Fulwood.

Paul, 37, said: “Keaton’s gutted. He’s at the age he knows he can’t walk and when he sees other little boys on their bikes, it helps him feel the same.”

Keaton, who attends St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School pupil will never walk due to an undiagnosed medical problem and having had surgery after he was born with his feet flat to his shins.

The trike, which was made by a specialist firm in Birmingham features struts that Keaton’s legs are strapped into and move in a walking motion when pulled along.

Paul, who works at Zebra Technologies in Fulwood, said: “The bike has been made to fit Keaton, it’s no use to anyone else. It’s like stealing a wheelchair from someone - how could you do it?

“We want the bike back, to replace it would take a long time as all the measurements would have to be taken again.”

Police have been made aaware of the theft and are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call officers on 101.
