Six men in court after alleged raid on Co-op store

Six men have appeared in court charged with one count each of conspiracy to commit burglary.

The court appearance of the six men, three of whom are from Morecambe and Lancaster, followed an alleged attempted cash machine raid at the Co-op Store, in Corbridge, Northumberland, at around 4am on Friday.

John Barker, 25, of Barley Cop Lane, Lancaster, Kenneth Yorke, 24, of Sandylands Promenade, Morecambe, Thomas Lloyd, 29, of Norfolk Street, Lancaster, Neil Lowes, 39, of Middlewood Avenue, Bishop Auckland, Ronald Thexton, 32, of Park Road, Bishop Auckland, and Anthony Hallimond, 28, of Cheviot Walk, Bishop Auckland, all appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates Court on Monday.

The court heard the charges relate to a period of time between January 6 and January 9 of this year.

All six were remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on February 8.
