Shocking images show aftermath of 'serious' Preston house fire as investigation launched
An investigation is underway following a fire in the bedroom of a property in Preston.
Two fire engines from Preston rushed to reports of a blaze at a house in Slaidburn Place shortly after 2.20am today (Tuesday, November 10).
Dramatic images from the scene show the blaze managed to burn through one of the bedroom doors, resulting in the room being fully gutted by the flames.
However, the residents of the property managed to escape to safety after being alerted by their smoke alarm.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a ventilation unit to quickly extinguish the blaze, preventing the fire from spreading into the roof space.
Ian Armistead, Protection Service Delivery Manager at LFRS, said: "Occupants had a lucky escape from a serious house fire in Preston overnight.
"The fire spread quickly, breaching the bedroom door with its intensity. Occupants ultimately saved by a smoke alarm .
"Preston Fire Station was quick to prevent the fire from spreading into the roof space."
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed the cause of the fire is under investigation.
