Search continues for missing Preston man as public urged to look out for distinctive blue Land Rover

Members of the public are being urged to keep an eye out for a distinctive blue Land Rover as police continue the search for a missing man from Preston.

Police said they are concerned for the welfare of 52-year-old James Brown who was last seen at 10.15am on Sunday on The Causeway in Southport.

Officers believe James may be travelling in the Land Rover and have released images of the vehicle to help people recognise its identifying features.

Police say that although the images are not the best quality, they are clear enough to show the Land Rover’s distinctive characteristics and could prove crucial in helping locate James.

James is described as 5ft 10in tall, very slim, bald with short grey hair around the sides and a grey beard.

He occasionally wears glasses for reading and has a number of distinctive tattoos, including a large Mandela on his chest, a snake on his right shoulder, Arabic writing on his wrist, an eye with HJM around it on his arm, a black and yellow symbol on his arm, and an upside-down pentagon on his back.

Officers say they cannot be certain what James was wearing when last seen, but he usually wears a dark green T-shirt or a camouflage jumper.

They have also noted that he has lost a significant amount of weight since the photograph released as part of the appeal was taken.

James is known to have links to Knutsford, Keswick, Kendal, Penrith and Carlisle, and police have been carrying out a number of enquiries since he was reported missing.

“And we are now at the point where we are asking your help, and we are particularly keen for people to keep an eye out for the Land Rover.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 1255 of December 21.
