Residents advised to turn to mobiles as 999 lines go down in Bamber Bridge

Residents and business owners in part of central Lancashire have been advised to use their mobile phones to call for help in the event of an emergency after landlines became ineffective overnight.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue tweeted shortly after 4am on Sunday, July 24, that they had been informed of a loss of 999 lines affecting around 200 properties in Bamber Bridge.

They advised: “If you are affected, please call 999 on a mobile phone in the event of an emergency” and said that engineers were working to restore the lines as soon as possible.

The cause or exact location of the problem is not known.
