Rain may catch out Lancashire drivers

Lancashire police have urged motorists to take care after rain made road surfaces slippery after days of baking sunshine.

Motorway officers posted a photo online after a car seemingly collided with a barrier on the M61 near Chorley at about 5pm this evening.

The driver suffered minor injuries.

North West Motorway Police tweeted: “This time yesterday the weather was fantastic. Today it’s raining which has probably been a factor in this RTC on the M61 at Chorley.

“Driver lucky to walk away with very minor injuries. Please don’t let the weather catch you out.”
