Rail firm's new office opens

Nigel Evans, MP for the Ribble Valley, and Linda Woollard, Deputy Mayor of South Ribble Borough Council, have formally opened the new head office of Haigh Rail Ltd in Bamber Bridge.

The event took place in Momentum Place, off Nook Lane, where the new office became operational at the end of March.

The rail engineering contractor, which was founded in Chorley in 2011, has a second office in Doncaster and a third in Crewe.

The new head office in Bamber Bridge is a sign of the company’s plans for growth and managing director Chris Haigh’s ambition to become the principal contractor in the North for Network Rail.

Leveraging his numerous strong relationships within the industry, Chris has set about hiring some key personnel, taking up pivotal positions in the company.

As a result of growing industry demand, Haigh Rail opened a dedicated welding division in Doncaster in 2014, offering 20 directly-employed operatives on stand-by for immediate mobilisation across the North.

The move to Bamber Bridge is strategic, as Preston is an area of great heritage and importance in the rail industry.

MP Mr Evans, said: “Haigh Rail is a local success story and I was only too pleased to be invited to the official opening of the new headquarters in Bamber Bridge. It is hugely impressive to see Chris Haigh start from zero and create a company with 41 employees.”
