Around 40 queens from over the years joined with visiting queens and this year’s field day queen Jenny Lawson, 10.

Saturday’s fun began with a procession completed by all the queens and a host of floats filled with children from Cockerham Primary School before finishing at the school’s playing field where there were activities for all the families.

Jenny’s mum Lorraine said: “The weather was gorgeous. It was a great day. We invited all the past queens to walk and about 40 of them came.”

Jenny’s retinue included Matthew Lawson, William Singleton, Millie Dingle, Freya Hindle, Elizabeth Fearnley, Madison Bellis and Olivia Nickson. Prizes were also given out to the children from the school who took part in the procession.

First place went to Year Four who dressed as punk rockers; second place went to Year Two and Three who were hippies and third place to Year Six for the Coronation of the Queen. The individual prize went to reception class children Bethany Gould and Maddie Sewell.
