Pulling power crew in Prom challenge

Firefighters and their supporters will be putting their muscles to good use in Blackpool next month '“ dragging a 10 tonne fire engine down the Prom for charity.

Crews from all over Lancashire will depart from the Comedy Carpet at 6pm on May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

The engine pull will raise money for LGBT charity Out in the Bay, the George House Trust, which provides services to people with HIV, and the Fire Fighters Charity, which supports the UK firefighting community.

Padiham firefighter Laura Herdman, 30, said: “We attended our first Pride event last year and we decided to come back bigger and better this year.

“We want the event to be different and stand out and it’s quite a challenge to pull a 10-tonne vehicle seven miles.
