Preston Scots Guards Association holds race day for St Catherine's Hospice

Event organiser, Michael Nutter, said: “We chose to support St Catherine’s because we all know someone who has been affected by the hospice in some way. The care and support they provide is amazing.

“We had so much support from Lostock Hall British Legion and the local community – they really helped make the event a huge success.”

The race day, held at Lostock Hall British Legion, also included a display from the City of Preston Pipe Band, a raffle and a hot pot supper.

Michael added: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the local community for donating raffle prizes, the British Legion for all their support with the event and especially Sue Davenport, who helped every step of the way. We would also like to thank Edward Jimmy Marsh, Frank McQuade, Alf Clempson, Steve Hills, Alan Alty and Dave Moor for their support with the event.”

Hayley Jackson, St Catherine’s fund-raising officer, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the Scots Guards Association for supporting the hospice and raising a fantastic £500. Without the support from people in the community, like Michael and everyone at the Scots Guards Association, we couldn’t continue to provide our specialist palliative and end-of-life care to people across central Lancashire.”
