Preston schoolboy taken to Alder Hey after being hit by van in Fulwood

A 14-year-old boy has been taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital after he was hit by a van outside a school in Preston today (Wednesday, March 17).

The boy was knocked down near Fulwood Academy after leaving school shortly before 3pm.

One ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and an air ambulance rushed to the scene where he was treated at the scene before being taken to Alder Hey in Liverpool.

Lancashire Police described his condition as "serious".

North West Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and an air ambulance to Queens Drive in Fulwood.

Road closures were put in place along Black Bull Lane, Hawkhurst Avenue, and Garstang Road, leading to heavy traffic in the area.
