Preston man breached restraining order to stalk woman outside her home 37 times

A Preston man who stalked and intimidated a woman outside her home just a day after being handed a restraining order has been jailed.

Sean Bean, 35, of Westfield Drive, Preston, repeatedly harassed his victim earlier this year, driving past her home 37 times in just three and a half weeks.

In January 2025, the day after a restraining order was issued against him, Bean drove alongside the woman in Preston, laughing and intimidating her.

His repeated actions left her terrified and unable to feel safe in her own home.

In a powerful victim impact statement read to the court, the woman said: “Sean has turned my life upside down. He has cost me everything.

“My confidence, my self-esteem, my own self-worth, my mental health, my friends, and nearly my children.

“I no longer feel safe in my home or anywhere else; I have no freedom, and I feel trapped.”

She added: “ All I wanted was what everyone else does, a happy, loving family home, and instead, Sean has made my life a living hell.”

Bean was arrested and later charged with stalking involving serious alarm and distress and breach of a restraining order.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Preston Crown Court to 14 months in prison.

He was also handed an indefinite restraining order.

DC Sasha Smith-Hooke, of Preston CID, said: “Bean callously intimidated his victim, knowing he was breaching the restraining order handed to him because of his previous actions.

“He laughed at her, stalked her and made her feel unsafe in her own home. Nobody should be made to feel that way.

“I want to be really clear: we will not tolerate this in Lancashire. If you are committing these crimes we will find out, and we will do all we can to bring you to justice.

“Finally, I want to praise the victim for the strength she has shown in coming forward and throughout proceedings. Despite being made to feel the way she did, she has conducted herself with dignity and strength.”
