Preston City Council issue update on flytipping in heritage woodland loved by families

Action has been taken in a heritage woodland blighted by flytippers.

Photographs sent to the Post showed a dumped mattress, plastic sheeting, cans, traffic cones and rubble, with locals saying there was no sign of action being taken, despite efforts being made to report it to Preston City Council.

But now the council has reponded, saying it was aware of the issue, and action had been taken.

A spokesman said: “We are aware of the fly‑tipping at this site. Our team attended in January following a report, and Parks staff revisited today (March 27), removing the majority of the waste and litter‑picking the area. Some remaining waste requires specialist removal due to its location and will be removed as soon as possible.

“We apologise that the resident experienced difficulties reporting this issue. The most efficient way to report fly‑tipping is via our website, including photographs and an exact location.”
