"We will miss you all" - Popular Preston chippy announces closure after 13 years

A popular Preston chip shop will close for good at the weekend.

Bosses at Jit’s Plaice in Ripon Street, Plungington - which has previously been named in the Lancashire Post Chippy of The Year list - announced the news earlier this week.

It is currently rated as 4.3 out of 5 on both Tripadvisor and Google Reviews, with customers praising it’s ‘old school’ gravy and gluten-free options.

Jit Panchal said: “ With regret we are announcing closure of Jit’s Plaice from February 28. Thank you to all our customers, friends and family for your support during the last nearly 13 years in business. We will miss you all.

“It would be lovely to see you before the doors finally close. Thank you. Depends on stock we may close early so don’t miss your last chippy lunch or tea from us if you like.”

Mr Panchal said the decision had been made because the landlady is selling the property. It had been listed for sale for £34,950 in 2024.
