For dog beautician Sharon the fun end of her dog grooming business sees her giving pooches the princess treatment. The former air stewardess, make-up artist and café/sandwich bar proprietor has just opened the Posh Pooches dog grooming parlour in High Street, Garstang.

Her own love of canines led her to a new career in dog care eight years ago when she decided she would train to groom her own pets.

She said: “I absolutely love dogs. They are just so loving, you can never go wrong with them. They just want to please you. That’s probably why I love my job so much.”

Of the tattoos, she said. “They wear off and they’re dog safe. It’s just a bit of fun. If a dog enjoys sitting and being pampered I can see no reason why not.”

As for the glittery painted nails , Sharon said: “The nail varnish is absolutely harmless for dogs. You couldn’t use the nail varnish we women use.”

Sharon, originally from Liverpool, moved to Goosnargh some four months ago after deciding to relocate her business from Garstang Road, Fulwood, to Garstang.

She explained why the town is her favoured location: “We’ve been coming here for 20 years. We had a caravan in Cockerham and we got married at Guy’s.”

Sharon also runs training courses in dog grooming. Her own pets comprise four Shih Tzus, a Rottweiler and a Shorkie (Shihzue and Yorkshire Terrier cross):

Husband Stephen is also a dog groomer and the couple are providing a home dog boarding, house sitting and dog boarding service for pet owners.
