There are plans to build 51 flats in the facility – 30 one-bedroom, self contained flats as well as a further 21 two-bedroomed units. There will also be communal areas, garden areas and car parking bays.

Who can live there?

Developers behind the build, Bournemouth-based McCarthy and Stone, have said that the unit will be “specifically designed for people aged 55 and over.”

What will it be called?

The public is invited to submit its ideas for a name, with the winning entry receiving a cheque for £100.

Fiona Brooks, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone North West, said: “We are looking for a name which will be relevant to the local community; and it can be anything from suggestions local landmarks or scenery, to names that incorporate elements of the town’s rich history.”
