Plans revealed for 29 new flats above The Original Factory Shop in Kirkham town centre
Plans for 29 new flats above shops in Kirkham town centre have been put forward.
Fylde Council is considering a planning application to convert the upper floors of the Kirkgate Centre in Poulton Street, formerly home to The Original Factory Shop.
The applicant, Mr Kadar, is seeking to convert the first and second floors into a block of flats. It would include 19 one-bedroom apartments, six two-bedroom apartments and four studios.

One bed flats will range in size from 38m² to 70m², while studios will measure 37m² to 49m², and two-bedrooms from 61m² to 71m².
According to planning documents, there will be no external alterations to the building and the rear car park will retain its 28 dedicated parking spaces for residents. A secure internal cycle store will also be provided.
Existing vehicle and pedestrian access points will also remain unchanged and the proposals involve the first and second-floor space only, with no alterations to the retail units on the ground floor - which include Costa Coffee and Poundstretcher.
Kirkham Town Councillor Adam Brierley, of Fylde Conservatives, has objected to the plans and is urging others to do so.
He said: “Unfortunately, the rumours are true. It’s important that we protect and invest in our town centre, not turn it into apartments. As town councillor I will be objecting to this and its important that you do too.”
Residents and local businesses can have their say on the plans by emailing [email protected] with 25/0739 in the subject line. The public consultation ends on January 9, 2026.
