Take a peek inside Blackburn's King George's Hall £13million refurbishment ahead of 2026 reopening
It’s been closed for over a year, but last week Council leaders took a tour of King George’s Hall in Blackburn.
They’ve since shared some footage showing the progress being made ahead of its reopening in the autumn - see our video player.

The Grade II listed building is undergoing extensive refurbishment works including a new roof and windows, upgraded bar areas, improved lighting and heating, new lifts and bathrooms, and more.
Thanks to government investment of £13million, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to restore the 105-year-old building, in the heart of Blackburn’s cultural quarter.
Plans are being made to reopen King George’s Hall in the autumn of 2026.
Phase one of the works were completed last summer and now stage two includes the replacement of the roof, internal alterations and enhancements, major renovation of the bar areas, toilets and flooring, as well as improvements to the building’s heating and ventilation system.
