Sun shines on civic procession
Mayors from neighbouring Chorley, Ribble Valley and Hyndburn were in attendance as Coun Dorothy Gardner led the celebratory procession from Kingsfold Community Centre to St Leonard’s Church, Penwortham. Representatives from the community’s Brownie, Beaver and Scout groups walked alongside.
Coun Gardner said: “It was very emotional for me to lead the procession, especially as so many councillors, council leaders and people from the community came out.

The Leyland Band gave a rousing march to set the procession on their way, as the mayor was joined by her consort, husband Melvyn, and daughter, before heading to the service, led by Rev Nick Mansfield.
Coun Gardner added: “The weather was lovely and their was a great turnout.
“All in all, it was a lovely day.”
