Chorley MP and Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle threatens to eject health secretary Matt Hancock from the chamber

Sir Lindsay was forced to intervene during Prime Minister's Question Time.

The Chorley MP intervened as Labour leader Keir Starmer's questions to Prime Minister Boris Johnston were interrupted by Mr Hancock.

At first, Sir Lindsay gently reminded Mr Hancock of Commons protocol before taking a sterner tone when he appeared to continue talking.

Sir Lindsay told Mr Hancock it was fine for him to advice the Prime Minister but not the leader of the opposition.

BBC footage of the exchange appeared to show Mr Hancock interrupting, prompting a loud, Lancastrian bellow from Sir Lindsay, who told him he would be "more than happy" for him to leave the chamber and be replaced with someone else.

Sir Lindsay's took over as Commons Speaker after many years as deputy, replacing John Bercow.
