The political veteran helped launch the latest caper featuring the classic characters by turning storyteller during a visit to Euxton’s Balshaw Lane Community Primary School in his constituency.
In Mr Men and Little Miss at Big Ben, Sir Lindsay’s cat, Attlee - named after the late 1940s Labour Prime Minister - is seen basking in the sunshine coming through the clockface of the Elizabeth Tower.
The Speaker told the Lancashire Post he was pretty sure his pet had not reached such dizzy heights in reality - and that he was “quite shocked”, but pleased, when he learned of his cat’s cameo appearance.
It was more than the man himself got - Sir Lindsay is referred to only by his Westminster role and as Attlee's owner.
“Of course, they don't mention me - the cat’s much more important than I could ever be,” he laughed.
He added that the purpose of his school visit was “twofold” - to encourage young people to think about “the importance of democracy” while also getting them to read.
