Police investigate shooting incident
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after reports of a shooting at an address in Burnley.
Shortly after 3pm yesterday (Saturday) police received reports of a disturbance involving a number of men outside an address in Stroyan Street.
It is believed that during the incident a firearm was shot through the front window of the address, causing damage to the property. No one was injured as a result of the discharge. Officers carried out a full search of the address and remainedat the scene while enquiries continue. It is believed that the incident could be linked to earlier reports of a disturbance outside an address in nearby Brockenhurst Street at around midday yesterday where a number of people were seen with knives. Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed either incident or who has any information that could assist with their on-going enquiries.
Det. Insp. Mark Vaughton, of Burnley CID said: “Our investigation into both of these incidents is continuing and we would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the disturbances.
"If you were in the Stroyan Street or Brockenhurst Street areas at the time of the incidents and you have any information about what happened then please get in touch with us either via 101 or you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
"I would like to reassure people that we believe these incidents involve groups who are known to each other and we are confident that there is no threat to the wider public."
