Police appeal after Carnforth cash-in-transit robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cash-in-transit robbery in Carnforth this morning, Tuesday.

They were called to reports that a security guard was approached by three men as she delivered cash to Barclays Bank in Market Street at 9.47am.

The men, who were wearing black and had their faces covered with balaclavas, stole the cash box she was carrying and made off in a vehicle in the direction of Slyne Road.

DC Corinne Cleasby of Lancaster CID said: “Although there were no weapons or violence, this has clearly been a terrifying experience for the guard.

“We believe the men may have fled in a small red car – possibly a Honda – but later switched to another vehicle.

“If you witnessed the robbery, or saw anything at all suspicious around the time of the incident, please contact us immediately.”
