Pilling Old Car Club's 120-mile rally raises £400 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation
The Pilling Old Car Club raised £400 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation with a 120-mile classic car rally, featuring 32 vintage vehicles on a scenic route.
Members of Pilling Old Car Club went out of their way – specifically 120 miles out – to raise £400 for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

They drove 32 classic vehicles from Booths supermarket car park in Garstang up to Newby Bridge, on to Hawkshead and back via Carnforth in a fundraising rally organised by members Mick Briggs and Paul Wilson.
Mick, who underwent successful treatment for prostate cancer at Rosemere Cancer Centre in 2023, drove his 1988 former British Telecom Austin Maestro van, while Paul was in an MG BGT.
Mick said: “Paul and I did a trial run so we knew we had a good route planned.
“It was a good day, with car club members paying an entry fee to join the rally and raise the donation. Some also gave extra.”
Sue Swire, fundraising manager for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, said: “Our thanks to Mick, Paul and everyone who joined the rally for this great donation. Since 2023, Mick has raised £2,132.65 towards our projects through plant and cake sales and activities with Pilling Old Car Club. We are very grateful.”
Rosemere Cancer Foundation supports cancer patients from across Lancashire and South Cumbria who are treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre at Royal Preston Hospital, as well as eight local hospital cancer units across the two counties.
