Senior reporter Aimee Seddon brings you her entertainment guide to five things to do next week in and around Lancashire.

Between Monday, September 9 and Sunday, September 15, a whole host of events and show are taking place across the county.

As part of our weekly entertainment guide, below we have highlighted five events from different areas of Lancashire - with a sneaky nod to Wigan of course.

Central Lancashire

First up in central Lancashire, a Craftastic event is taking place on Levels 2 & 3 of Fishergate Shopping Centre in Preston on Saturday, September 14.

Running between 10:00am and 4:00pm, expect a day of fun and hands-on activities for all ages and skill levels.

Included in the activities is a knit and purl session, henna stalls, jewellery pen making, cardmaking: punch needling and a posca pen art session.

All the activities are free, just turn up.

Over on the Fylde Coast, between Friday, September 13 and Sunday, September 15, the St Anne's Kite festival returns and spectators can expect to see the skies above St Anne’s seafront awash with colour across the three days as fabulous display kites take to the air on the beach adjacent to the pier.

Joined by kite teams from across the UK and beyond, the event is a partnership between Fylde Council and kite fliers SmileFactor10 with support from St Annes Town Council.

The event is free and runs between 1:pm and 10pm Friday, 11:00am to 5pm Saturday and 11:00 to 4pm Sunday.

Lancaster

Up in Lancaster, on Saturday, September 14 The UK’s No.1 vocal harmony group and original X-Factor stars G4 celebrate a double decade in the limelight with a spectacular anniversary show.

This 72 date tour is their most extensive yet and will see them fondly look back upon their journey, perform some classic hits and perform new tracks from their hotly-anticipated 20th Anniversary studio album due for release in Autumn 2024.

East Lancashire

Over in East Lancashire, on Wednesday, September 11 and Friday, September 13 the comedian and TV presenter Paddy McGuinness brings two intimate warm up shows for his upcoming arena tour ‘Nearly There’ to the Darwen Library Theatre.

Called the ‘Nearly there Work in Progress warm up show’, the evenings will help Paddy, star of shows such as Phoenix Nights, Take Me Out and Top Gear, gear up for his first major stand up tour in eight years.

Tickets cost £15 and more dates are coming up later in the month as well.

Wigan

Finally, just outside of Lancashire, the Wigan & District Model Engineering Society is celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the opening of the Miniature Railway in Haigh Woodland Park, Wigan on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15.

The Mayor of Wigan will be visiting on the Saturday to unveil a plaque commemorating the opening of the railway and on Sunday, founding member Hugh Duckworth's family will be visiting to dedicate the new club locomotive.

As part of celebrations, multiple locomotives will be on display and all rides are free, volunteers just ask for a donation towards the upkeep of the railway.
