Touching scenes as dozens attend candle-lit vigil for Chorley hairdresser and tragic mum-of-five Nicole Gorton
It was a touching scene as crowds gathered for a candle-lit vigil in memory of Chorley hairdresser and mum-of-five Nicole Gorton following her tragic death aged 41.
Nicole was described by friends and loved ones as "an angel on our earth" and a "beautiful soul", as they came to pay their respects with candles and balloons last Friday evening (November 28).

Nicole was at the heart of the community in Chorley, and ran a hair salon in Anderton Street for nearly a decade, where she generously offered free haircuts to children from struggling families.
Following her death, there has been an outpouring of grief and tributes, with one message saying: "Nicole, you were a breath of fresh air, a shining light, anchor in the storms and simply an angel on our earth. You touched countless lives with your selfless spirit and will be missed so much, by so many."
Local mental health support group, Just Talk, helped organise the candle-lit vigil outside Nicole’s salon.
Footage shared online shows a large gathering outside the salon, with those in attendance lighting candles and releasing balloons in tribute to the much-loved hairdresser.

In a Facebook post, the group said: “We came together to celebrate the beautiful life of Nicole Gorton — a devoted mother of five and a truly unforgettable part of the Chorley community.
“Nicole touched so many hearts with her kindness, her strength, and her unforgettable spirit. Seeing everyone gather to release balloons in her honour showed just how loved she truly was.
“This memorial video is a tribute to the laughter she shared, the love she gave, and the legacy she leaves behind. Forever in our hearts, Nicole. A mother, a friend, a light in Chorley. Gone too soon, but never forgotten.”
