The stately home is one of Lancashire' s most historic estates and is set to be restored to its former glory as a private mansion for North West businessman Colin Shenton.
It has been more than 100 years since a family have made Cuerden Hall their private residence, and the historic home certainly has a few stories to tell.

Construction of Cuerden Hall’s striking belvedere tower - rising above the manor - was completed in 1819. It was converted to hold a large water tank in the early 1900s, storing water pumped from the nearby reservoir.

There is now a Tree Preservation Order covering the site and its grounds are located within the Green Belt.

Robert Townley Parker inherited Cuerden in 1794. He served as High Sheriff of Lancashire and was twice a Conservative MP for Preston. To protect what he considered his right to privacy, he erected a wall around the entire estate.

Robert Townley Parker also desired uninterrupted views of the landscape and he ordered surrounding buildings used by the local population to be demolished. These included the George & Dragon and Eagle & Child pubs, along with a corn mill, smithy and several cottages.
