Theatre in the Park returns to Astley for the summer

The first of which will be held on Sunday, August 21, where the Quantum Theatre will bring Peter Rabbit and his naughty cousin Benjamin to Astley Hall’s Walled Garden with their enchanting new adaptation of two of Beatrix Potter’s best-loved Tales.

Organised by Chorley Council, these outdoor, amplified performances will provide fun and a musical journey for all.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council said: “We’re excited to welcome outdoor performances to Astley Park this summer - this year’s events offer something for both families and music enthusiasts.

"Both performances this year will be amplified providing improved sound for the audience."

He added: “The Park’s Walled Garden, provides a stunning location for events like these, which are always really popular, so I urge everyone to get their tickets as soon as possible before they sell out.”

This spellbound performance will provide a magical afternoon of fun for all the family. Gates open at 5pm with the performance starting at 6pm. Ticket prices are: adults £15, children four to16 – £10 (three years and under go free), and a family is £40.

On Saturday, September 3, Outreach Opera will return to Astley Park for their Last Night of the Proms open-air concert, taking the audience on a musical journey from opera through to songs from the West End shows, finishing with much loved traditional British anthems, for those who enjoy flag waving and a sing-a-long.

Gates for this event open at 5.30pm, with the last entry at 6.30pm when the performances will start.

Ticket prices are: adults £18, children five to 16 – £10 (four and under will go free), with a family for £46.

Tickets for both events are currently available online at Skiddle, with paper tickets on sale at the Astley Hall Giftshop.

Ticket holders are encouraged to pack their chairs and picnic rugs as seating is not provided, and are welcome to bring picnics, although refreshments and snacks will be available to purchase.

Previous events held include the park's Walled Garden playing host to an outdoor theatrical performance of the Railway Children.
