Special thank you road markings created at Royal Preston Hospital entrances for NHS heroes

Special thank you messages have been created at the entrances of Royal Preston Hospital in honour of the staff fighting the coronavirus.

The two entrances to the Sharoe Green Lane hospital have received the new road markings courtesy of Lancashire County Council with the help of markings company Uni Play UK as staff at the building continue to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

A team from the Council's highways department created the messages on Friday morning. The markings say 'Thank You NHS' accompanied by a rainbow surrounding the NHS logo.

A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: "Our highways team have created special thank you messages at two entrances of Royal Preston Hospital.

The spokesman also said there will be similar messages displayed at other Lancashire hospitals shortly. Blackpool Radiology department tweeted that they hoped to see some at Blackpool Victoria Hospital soon.

After tweeting a video of the highways team creating the message, some of the hospital's staff thanked the council for the message.

Helen Smith, a matron at the hospital, tweeted: "Thank you Lancashire County Council and Uni Play UK for this lovely gesture. It certainly will brighten the day for all staff coming into work."
