Schoolchildren in Preston have paid tribute to a beloved teacher who has sadly died.

Floral bouquets line the railings outside St Joseph’s Primary School in Rigby Street as staff, parents and pupils pay tribute to Lyn Rochford, who recently passed away.
Among the wall of flowers, pupils have penned and shared a heart-warming poem in honour of their teacher.

It reads: “The quiet whisper of a helping hand,
“The soft reassurance you always provided.
“You sat with the learners, you tied every shoe,
“A world of small wonders was better with you.
“You dried every tear when the playground was rough,

“and taught us patience was often enough.
“A listener, a champion, a guide in the dark,
“you left on our hearts an indelible mark.
“Though the pencils are still and the classroom is bare,
“your love in the lesson will always be there.”
