We’ve cherry picked a selection to appeal to all tastes and abilities, from historic tours to getting active with walks and even rave fitness classes.
5. Brockholes Nature Reserve
Owned and managed by the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside, Brockholes Nature Reserve offers visitors the chance to peruse a cornucopia of wild habitats for countless furry friends. Sprawling to over 250 acres of pristine nature reserve, Brockholes also has food and drink outlets as well as craft sessions - plus there's a huge playground for younger members of the family.

6. Barton Grange and The Flower Bowl
As well as Barton Grange garden centre being one of the best in the country - it recently won the title of Best Plant Area in the UK for the second year running - the complex also offers The Flower Bowl.

7. Enjoy a Spa Break at Ribby Hall Village in Wrea Green
