Preston florist 'touched' by reaction to stunning installation

A colourful, floral heart appeared in Avenham & Miller Parks, Preston on Saturday and it was all the work of a local florist.

Preston-based wedding florist Stef Dore from Honey’s Hideaway Floral Couture built the floral heart at the weekend and says she has been ‘touched’ by the response.

“I’m honestly touched by how much it has had a positive impact on so many people, it’s lovely,” Stef said.

“The inspiration behind the heart was to lift people's spirits after what has been for so many the toughest of the three lockdowns we’ve had to endure.

“Avenham and Miller Park has been a place for people, including myself to escape through the pandemic. So putting the heart up in there felt the perfect place.

“We’re really lucky to have such a lovely park in our city for the community to enjoy.”

Stef’s floral heart features roses and lilies and is a colourful sight for visitors to the park.

A sign next to the heart reads: “Because flowers still grow even after the harshest of winters.” - an uplifting message during a difficult time for many.

Stef says the heart still features in the park but it may have wilted in the cold weather.

“I would love to see more pictures of people enjoying it while it’s still in situ,” she said.

The floral installation dubbed the ‘heart in the park’, has received positive feedback on social media and some have shared their photos of Stef’s handiwork.
