Penwortham pauses for Remembrance service

Commemorations were scaled back this year due to the pandemic preventing large-scale gatherings.
In Penwortham, a number of people marked a socially-distanced wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial, attended by attended by local dignitaries, town council members and members of the Royal British Legion.

Others marked the occasion with a silence on their own doorsteps.
In London, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have joined the nation in observing a two-minute silence on Armistice Day, as they marked the centenary of the burial of the Unknown Warrior.
Wearing face masks Charles and Camilla joined a socially distanced congregation at Westminster Abbey for a service marking 100 years to the day since the body of the unidentified serviceman was laid rest.
