The North West Ambulance Service released their inspiring version of Times Like These on all major streaming platforms yesterday after it amassed more than one million views.

Andy Woods, team leader of the region's hazardous area response team, decided to put the rendition together to celebrate the life-saving work of his colleagues during the pandemic and raise funds for the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust Charity.

Andy said: "It's been a really difficult time for the entire NHS and we've been getting used to wearing PPE. Normal everyday calls had calmed down as people were scared of catching the virus. But the majority of calls were Covid-related and we've been transferring critically unwell patients to intensive care."

The music lover put an appeal on Facebook for singers and musicians after being inspired by the all-stars cover of Times Like These.

"I was listening to the song on Radio One and the lyrics really hit home," he said.

That's when he put out the appeal, adding: "Loads of people wanted to take part from all over the North West. They were complete strangers when we first started.

"But we all wanted to put a smile on people's faces and raise staff morality."

The track has certainly resonated with listeners, having had more than one million views on Youtube and Facebook since its release just 10 days ago. Andy says it took six to eight weeks to record and edit, with everyone filming themselves singing the song at home, and the choir have smashed their £2,000 target, raising £5,768.

The charity provides life-saving equipment, community first responders, first aid training, and mental health and education programmes, all outside of NHS funding.

"I've been blown away by people's support. It's been amazing. I can't say it enough," Andy said.

"Everyone is massively supporting the NHS, and the ambulance service is a great cause."

The song is available to download on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, Google Play, and Soundcloud.
