Whilst I grew up in Liverpool which is your typical city, beaming with hustle and bustle, Preston has a similar energetic feel just on a smaller scale.
I moved to the Lancashire city just a few months ago when I started working at The Lancashire Post but already feel part of the furniture.
From learning the local history to watching Preston North End flourish in recent months, there’s been plenty for me to enjoy since moving here.
Here are 13 things I have noticed during my first few months as a resident of Preston, Lancashire:

9. The River Ribble
Starting in North Yorkshire, the River Ribble runs all throughout Lancashire and offers some spectacular views and walks along its banks. | NW Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard

10. Cafune South American Cafe
Whilst I’m not a coffee man, I can appreciate a great cafe and this is the best I’ve been to Preston. Offering not just great drinks but good food too, I often come here to chill out. | Google

11. Moor Park
Another park that I like to run in, Moor Park offers a scenic backdrop which features Deepdale stadium as well as many other sporting facilities such as tennis and basketball courts. | NW Photo: Neil Cross

12. Owl & Birds of Prey Sanctuary
The sanctuary is an Avian centre for protected raptor species, which has flying demonstrations as well as other shows suitable for all ages. | Google
