Concerned about what the festive period will look like this year, married couple Amy and Joseph decided to put a modern spin on the traditional nativity story in a bid to raise spirits this Christmas.

And their new book - the Covid Christmas story, was released last Sunday (October 11) and is now available on paperback.

After using their time in lockdown to undertake different projects, including creating a unique calendar of Leyland, Amy and Joseph came up with the new idea of putting a current angle on the traditional Christmas story, having previously published a children's story book last year.

Joseph said: “Lots of people have been worried about Christmas 2020. We wanted to see what the original Christmas would have been like in our current circumstances. A Covid-19 twist on the Nativity story, if you will.

“Having previous gone through it, we knew all about the rather simple self publishing process that Amazon offers. So I could concentrate on the rhymes throughout the story and ensure it flowed nicely before Amy typeset it all and added some illustrations.

"It’s not going to make us rich, but that’s not why we created it. We wanted to add some smiles to the current pandemic and spread some good news too.”

The couple who have lived in Leyland for five years, have three young children and are self employed, with Joseph in marketing and Amy working as a graphic designer.

“I’m very fortunate to have a graphic designer for a wife. I come up with these ideas, write the words out and Amy makes everything look good," Joseph added.

The book, entitled The Covid Christmas Story, is available to buy in both paperback and eBook versions.
