Hundreds of floral tributes laid at scene of Preston dad's fatal crash at Christmas in Fishwick Parade

Hundreds of floral tributes have been left at the scene where a Preston dad was fatally injured in a crash at Christmas.

It’s a touching scene in Fishwick Parade where dozens of tributes have been left for tragic dad-of-three Alex Swales at the junction with Arnhem Road.

The 33-year-old was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after his off-road bike struck a Renault Clio car at around 4pm on December 28. He later died in hospital from his injuries.

Lancashire Police said Alex was riding alongside four other off-road bikes. By the officers arrived at the scene, the other bikes had been removed and the riders had fled the area, leaving Alex injured in the road.

The force said a man in his 30s from Preston was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A second man, also in his 30s and from Preston, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and assisting an offender. They have since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A police spokesperson said: “While we have made two arrests as part of our investigation, our enquiries are very much continuing.

“If you can help, please call 101 quoting log 0626 of December 28.”
