Old Knackers FC was set up in 2019 to help men over 35 play football, keep fit and raise money for good causes.

Most of the players come from Preston’s Man v Fat league which matches play matches once a month against teams like Hardly Athletic and MenHear FC to raise money for charities such as helping families fund expensive medication for poorly children nd so far they have raised more than £2,000.

In November, as football was banned, they decided to dribble a football in relay for the entire length of the Guild Wheel.

They raised over £500 for Preston charity MenHear and the group’s founder William Killeen was on hand to meet the group to show his gratitude.

Player Neil Procter said: “We’ve got the best set of lads. Most of them are over 35, have their own teeth and are mainly continent. We do have a couple of player in their 20s but that’s only to bring the average age down to 67.

“At the Knackers we only play charity matches as we once a month as we want the games to feel exciting - and it takes us three weeks to recover!”
