In the early hours of this morning Withnell Fold Tennis Club got together for the first time this year for a game.

From today (Monday, March 29, 2021), outdoor sporting activities can resume as the coronavirus restrictions continue to be lifted.

To mark the easing of restrictions across the county, eager players from the Chorley tennis club met for a midnight game.

When speaking to the Lancashire Post last week, tennis enthusiast Sally Barnes said: “It’s been a long, dark winter without being able to play tennis due to lockdown and we’re so keen to get started again we just decided to meet as soon as we are allowed and knock a few balls over the net.

“We’ll all be a bit rusty but by the time the sun comes up we’ll be playing like pros.”
