Oliver, a four-year-old fluffy grey-blue cat, was last seen around midday on Thursday, July 9, climbing over a fence into woods at the back of his owner’s house in Juniper Croft, Clayton-le-Woods.

His owner Kristen Remmer is bedridden and has suffered with chronic pain since she broke her back when she was just 16-years-old. Now 45, Kristen says she has a special bond with Oliver that helps her to cope with her condition.

She said: “It’s devastating. I’ve lived in pain every day of my life since I was 16. Oliver senses my discomfort and is nearly always by my side. I have a connection with him that I’ve never had with any other cat before.

“It’s like my whole world has collapsed without him. I can’t function and I’m collapsing nearly every day because I’m so exhausted mentally and physically. I just need him back.

“Oliver is just so special. He’s a treasure. He’s one in a million.”

Although he often ventures into the woods, Kristen says she knew something was wrong when he had not returned five hours later. The community then rallied round to help her search for him due to her limited mobility.

The appeal even made BBC headlines when Kristen and her team of volunteers found a cat that had been missing for seven years and reunited it with its owner in Blackpool.

Oliver has been microchipped and neutered.
