Bikes and cars boost Rosemere fund-raising drive
A Lancashire-based charity has expressed its delight at the imminent return of two events in Lytham in quick succession this summer to help boost its coffers.
The Taps 30 bike ride is set to take place from the pub aftre which its is named on Sunday, July 4, just a week after the third an annual Classic Car Rally on Lytham Green, announced for June 27.
When the two events were last held in 2019, they raised more than £15,000 between them for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation and over 20 years, the Taps Bike Ride has boosted the charity by tens of thousands of pounds, along with other good causes .
Rosemere will again benefit from both events as they look for a memorable return after being cancelled last year because of the Covid pandemic.
“Both are incredibly popular. We have been the beneficiary of the Taps bike ride for years and over that time, have received nearly £65,000 from its organisers.
“Of this, just over £9,000 went to support our 20th Anniversary Appeal which launched in 2017 to equip our regional specialist cancer centre in Preston with the world’s most advanced robotic surgical system and also to fund a cancer clinical trials co-ordinator.
“The impact these two Lytham events have made and will hopefully continue to make on local cancer patients’ lives cannot be over-estimated and we are very grateful and proud to be associated with them.”
