19 cracking pics as hundreds take part in Easter Monday Egg Rolling event at Avenham Park

Preston’s beloved tradition returned on Easter Monday to Avenham Park with hundreds taking part.

It was a case of eggs galore as many rolled, tumbled and sprinted down the hill to get a coveted chocolate egg.

Those in attendance were also treated to various market stalls, performances, workshops and an Easter Bonnet Competition.

The first ever Easter egg rolling event took place in Avenham Park in 1867 but back then pace-eggs were used - a Lancashire custom.

Take a look at some ‘cracking’ pics captured by photographer Joshua Brandwood.
