Penwortham's got talent

Penwortham Youth and Community Centre welcomed hundreds of visitors through the doors to enjoy the arts and cultural festival

The live event planned and coordinated by the young people and workers from The Priory Lane Music Project was hailed a great success, helping to show off the very best of local talent.

A packed programme was presented over 12 hours with live music throughout the evening promoting and supporting bands and performers, involved in the project.

During the day the centre was bustling with children, young people and their families taking part in a variety of displays and workshops.

From African drumming workshops, dance and drama activities, badge making, face painting to birds of prey and a silent disco, there was something for everyone.

The day was run by the workers, volunteers and young people from the Priory Lane Music Project and it was supported by PM’s Dance, Double R Arts, Penwortham St Mary’s Scout Group, St Mary’s Women’s Guild and Penwortham Towns Women’s Guild - all users of the Young People’s Centre.

As well as the festival a Macmillan coffee morning was also run by Double R Arts in memory of previous Penwortham Young People’s centre manager Ron Blenkinship who passed away in July 2012.

Cakes were also provided by St Mary’s Women Guild and volunteers and the total money raised was £349.57
