The retailers, who own and run individual businesses at Stydd Gardens at Ribchester believe some people are under the misapprehension that when the site’s former cafe shut three months ago, so too, did the businesses.

This is definitely not the case, with eight businesses - with one more due to open soon - operating there.

Retailer Maureen Little said: “Despite the closure of the cafe at Christmas, all the independently owned businesses are open and running and unfortunately the perception has been that the whole site has closed. This is categorically not the case.

“All businesses are open six days a week, as is the new cafe, situated in the magical surroundings of the refurbished greenhouse.”

Retailer Rebecca Lamond said they are not only passionate about their own businesses, but the on-going success of the site, describing themselves as “part of the Stydd family with one vision” where everyone helped out to make Stydd the special place it has become.

The new eating outlet is “The Cafe at Stydd” with chef Eve Townson, who competed on BBC 2’s Great British Menu taking on the role of catering director with responsibility for the café, event catering and consulting for the site’s other food oriented outlets.

Owner Stephen Fullalove said he continues to work towards his vision of “combining this once specialist rose nursery; a beautiful old English country garden backdrop set amongst a ‘family’ of unique yet integrated outlets and businesses” as “an experiential rural retreat where people can come and relax away from the town and city noise and bustle” and be “inspired by the bespoke offerings imagined by individual entrepreneurs.”
