'Opportunity of a lifetime' - boutique hotel dating back to 1650 on market for first time in 56 years
“We have loved every minute” - owners of historic boutique hotel reflect as the business goes on the market for the first time in nearly six decades.
A top-rated boutique hotel nestled in the Lancashire countryside has gone on the market for the first time in more than 56 years.
“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime”, said Julie Lee, who owns The Priory in Scorton, with her husband, and who grew up working at the venue when it was owned by her parents.
She said: “We have loved every minute of being here working with great staff and lovely loyal customers. The time has come where my husband and I wish to do other things.
“The business is in great shape and primed ready for the new owners to further develop. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a central business in the picturesque tourist village of Scorton. It just keeps getting busier!”

The Priory, which dates back to 1650, has seven en-suite guest bedrooms and three self-contained apartments, an on-site restaurant and café bar, and was formerly licenced for weddings and events, “offering scope for reinstatement”, according to agent Savills.
They add: “Despite its rural setting, the property is well connected, lying approximately 3.4 miles from Junction 33 of the M6 motorway, with Lancaster around 8 miles to the north and Preston approximately 13 miles to the South. Lancaster railway station offers direct services to London Euston, enhancing the hotel's appeal to both leisure and business travellers.”
The business is operating as normal. The asking price has not been revealed publicly.
