New superstore is launched by St Catherine's Hospice
Kind-hearted staff from Waitrose Distribution Centre in Leyland loaned a lorry to St Catherine’s Hospice and helped move stock to the Guild Trading Estate.
The new-concept store, which opened on Monday, is located in Ribbleton Lane and is a one-stop shop for pre-loved furniture, household items, electricals and clothing.

Rachel Hewitt, head of trading at the Lostock Hall hospice, said: “The huge lorry has a much greater capacity compared to our usual vans, and meant the job was done much more effectively and efficiently. The team who helped was amazing – we are so grateful for their time and effort.”
The new site will also become the headquarters for the hospice’s growing eBay shop, which sells quirky and collectible items online around the world to raise further funds.
“The concept of the shop is to bring a few different things together under one roof,” Rachel added. “We’re looking forward to welcoming people inside the first St Catherine’s Superstore and to raising lots of money to fund our much-needed care for local people, now and going forward into the future.”
