An award-winning artist from Lancaster has a selection of her work on display at Garstang Arts Centre until the end of April.

Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School art teacher Emma Field was a finalist in the 2025 Lancashire Artist of the Year contest, and winner of this year’s Garstang Open Art competition.

The work on display at Garstang Arts Centre includes images from Lancashire and Yorkshire, including scenes of the Lancaster Canal, Morecambe Bay, Williamson Park and Bowland.

Emma’s most recent work is a scene at Malham.

The exhibition, entitled Roots, opened to the public on April 7. A private viewing and reception was previously held on Easter Sunday afternoon.

Emma was born in Burnley and she completed her BA honours degree in fine art at St Martin’s College, Lancaster in 2008.

She went on to teach art at Dartford Grammar School for Girls, becoming head of art for five years.
